Getting Started with Mixvisor

Welcome to Mixvisor! This guide will help you set up your first project library, scan your folders, and start organizing your music projects. Whether you have dozens of sessions or thousands, you'll be up and running in minutes.

Download and Install

  1. Download: Get Mixvisor from our website. It’s available for macOS (Windows coming soon).
  2. Install: Open the downloaded file and drag Mixvisor to your Applications folder.
  3. Launch: Open Mixvisor. On first launch, you may need to approve it in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.

Adding Your First Root Folder

  1. Open Settings: Click the gear icon in the sidebar or press Cmd + ,.
  2. Add Root Folder: Click “Add Folder” and select a directory containing your music projects.
  3. Choose Scan Mode:
    • Immediate: Scans only direct subfolders (faster)
    • Recursive: Scans nested folders up to a set depth (finds more projects)
  4. Start Scan: Click “Scan Now” to index your projects.

Understanding Your Project Library

Once scanned, you’ll see all detected projects in your library. Each project shows:

  • Project Name: The folder name
  • DAW: Automatically detected (Ableton, Logic, FL Studio, etc.)
  • Status: Customizable workflow stage
  • Last Modified: When the project folder was last changed

Setting Up Statuses

Mixvisor includes workflow presets, or you can create your own:

  1. Go to Settings > Statuses
  2. Choose a preset (Producer, Mixing Engineer, Artist) or create custom statuses
  3. Drag to reorder, click to edit colors and icons

Next Steps

  • Add labels to categorize projects by genre, client, or type
  • Set priorities to highlight urgent work
  • Enable audio preview in Settings > Preview to hear your projects without opening a DAW
